TAYLORS, S.C. – To benefit the South Carolina Special Olympics, FATZ®, home of the World Famous Calabash Chicken®, will be hosting a Calabash and Cops Tip-A-Cop event on November 18 and 19, 2011, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the restaurant on 2494 Church Street in Conway. Law enforcement officers from the Conway Police Department will be seating and serving FATZ® guests in exchange for tips that will go directly to benefit Special Olympics.
Special Olympics is a year-round training and competition sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Currently there are more than 21,400 athletes in South Carolina who train and compete in a choice of 23 different Olympics- type sports. More than 12,000 volunteers support the program annually. FATZ® values the opportunity to strengthen its communities through giving back and has raised more than $1,000,000 from 49 locations across five different states to benefit organizations ranging from local schools to The United Way.
FATZ® is also pleased to host Short Stacks for Big Change, a pancake breakfast fundraiser, on Nov. 19, 2011, to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina. From 7:30 – 10:30 a.m., FATZ® will open its doors to members of the community and transform into a hotspot for hotcakes to raise money to support the Special Olympics South Carolina. All attendees are encouraged to bring a donation to fuel FATZ® fundraising efforts for Special Olympics South Carolina.
