TAYLORS, SC - FATZ® is pleased to host a pancake breakfast at the 5 Spartan Avenue restaurant in Asheville, N.C., on Feb. 18, 2012, to benefit Arc of Buncombe County. From 8 – 10 a.m., FATZ® will open its doors to members of the community and transform into a hotspot for hotcakes to raise money to support the Arc of Buncombe County. The local branch of The Arc was started in 1957 by a group of volunteers concerned with the lack of programs for children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The Arc helps low to moderate-income individuals and their families realize their highest potential through advocacy, education, programming and family support. Proceeds from the breakfast will help fund a summer camp for these children to interact with piers that have the same needs.
Tickets for Short Stacks for Big Change, a pancake breakfast fundraiser, are $7 and can be purchased by contacting Executive Director and Mayor Terry Bellamy at (828) 253-1255 or MoreAboutTheArc@arcofbc.org. All attendees are encouraged to bring a donation to fuel FATZ® fundraising efforts for Arc of Buncombe County.
FATZ® introduced the idea of Short Stacks for Big Change in 2009 with the specific purpose of making a difference and helping the local community grow where every restaurant is located. Since its inception, FATZ® has raised more than $1,000,000 for charities and community organizations. FATZ® opens daily at 11 a.m. serving lunch and dinner to regulars, but on Saturdays, FATZ® staff volunteer alongside members of the community to raise money for organizations ranging from local schools to The United Way.
