TAYLORS, SC – Fatz Cafe is honored to host a pancake breakfast at the Aiken, SC, restaurant on Jan. 29, 2011, from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., to raise money for one of its own employees. Joanne Schander, a server who has worked at the Fatz Cafe – Aiken since its opening five years ago, has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and will be out of work for months.
"Joanne is always the first to rise to the occasion when any
member of the Fatz family is sick or has an emergency," Aiken
Operating Partner Scott Harrell said. "She has a huge heart and is
constantly arranging flowers or cards for our staff. We are honored
to be able to express our gratitude, show our support and help her
in any way we can during this difficult time."
Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $7 and one
hundred percent of the proceeds from ticket sales, tips and
donations will go toward her treatment. Breakfast includes
pancakes, sausage links, fruit cup and a beverage. Advance tickets
are available at Fatz Cafe on 996 Pine Log Road in Aiken and will
also be for sale at the door the day of the event.
Fatz Cafe introduced the idea of a Pancake
Breakfast Fundraiser in 2009 with the specific purpose of making a
difference and helping the local community grow where every
restaurant is located. In 2010, Fatz Cafe raised over
$475,000 for organizations ranging from local schools to The United
Way. Fatz Cafe values the opportunity to strengthen its surrounding
areas and will continue to raise even more money to touch the lives
of its community members in 2011.
