TAYLORS, SC – As a finalist for the 2010 Restaurant Neighbor Award, Fatz Cafe has been recognized for its community outreach and philanthropic efforts through its pancake breakfast program. Operating Partner Bruce Dressler started the pancake breakfast initiative in September of 2008, which has raised more than $85,000 to support various organizations in his local Irmo community. To celebrate the award and Dressler’s efforts, Fatz Cafe will be providing a free pancake breakfast at the Irmo restaurant on Oct. 23, 2010, from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. Fatz Cafe will turn into a hotspot for hotcakes, encouraging guests to donate money through server tips to benefit Hope for BraveHEARTS, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping fund research for congenital heart defects.
"The idea of the Pancake Breakfasts came about after looking at
different ways Fatz Cafe could give back and strengthen our
communities. The breakfasts have been very successful in raising
thousands of dollars to support local organizations, charities and
individuals in Irmo and its surrounding areas," Dressler said.
The Fatz Cafe team will be serving breakfast alongside members
of the Christus Victor Lutheran Church to raise money for Hope for
BraveHEARTS, an organization that raises awareness and supports
children and their families affected by congenital heart
disease.
Along with funding research for congenital heart defects, Hope
for BraveHEARTS provides BraveHEART Baskets for children up to the
age of 10 recovering from heart surgery at the Medial University of
South Carolina.
Tickets for the pancake breakfast will be distributed at the
Irmo restaurant and the Christus Victor Lutheran Church. Only
500 tickets will be given out between the two
locations, and all tickets must be picked up before Oct.
23. While tickets to the event are free, all attendees
are encouraged to bring a donation to fuel Fatz's fundraising
efforts for Hope for BraveHEARTS.
